Magic In NBA Finals
The Orlando Magic have defeated the Cleaveland Cavaliers to advance to the NBA Finals and face the Los Angeles Lakers. The 103-90 victory in game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals allows Magic to make their first appearance in an NBA finals since 1995. Dwight Howard scored a magnificent 40 points and Rashard Lewis added in 18 points for the Nuggets. The Magic also hit twelve 3-pointers during the game. League MVP LeBron James of the Cavaliers only managed 25 points in what many regard as his worst game of the series.
The Los Angeles Lakers have made it to the NBA finals upon defeating the Denver Nuggets in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals, 119-92. Kobe Bryant spearheaded the effort of avoiding a 7th game in the series and contributed 35 points to the total. The Lakers scored a perfect 24 out 24 of their free throws. Carmelo Anthony netted 25 points for the Nuggets. The Lakers led by 5, 8, 3 and 11 points in the four quarters respectively.
The Orlando Magic secured another victory over the Cleaveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals. The 116-114 victory puts Orlando at a clear advantage having a 3-1 lead in the best of seven series. Leagure MVP LeBron James contributed 44 points for the Cavaliers, but his efforts were not enough to save Cleaveland. “Superman” Howard put in two free throws with only 21 seconds remaining in the game. Howard had a game high of 27 points and Rafer Alston also netted 26 points.
The Denver Nuggets defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 120-101 after a tremendous effort from Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups. Billups scored 24 points to help the Nuggets secure a 2-2 draw in the Western Conference finals. Anthony managed to put in 15 points despite being hindered by a sore ankle and a stomach bug. Kobe Bryant scored 24 points for the Lakers.
The Orlando Magic have defeated the Cleaveland Cavaliers again in a nerve racking 99-89 clash. Dwight Howard put in 24 points in the 28 minutes he was allowed to play due to fouling. LeBron James contributed 41 points. This gives Magic a 2-1 lead in the Eastern Conference finals. Mo Williams of Cleaveland was given four stitches along his left eye after an injury due to elbowing in the first half.
Kobe Bryant led the Lakers to their second win in the Western Conference finals against the Denver Nuggets, 103-97. Bryant gave the Lakers a 96-95 lead with about a minute left in the game. Victory was assured as Bryant contribued 5 more points out of 6 free shots. Bryant’s game total was 41 points to give his team a 2-1 lead in the series. The Nuggets led for most of the game but had trouble keeping up in the second half with the fouling out of Carmelo Anthony and Kenyon Martin.
The Cleaveland Cavaliers made a comeback in the second game of the Eastern Conference finals, defeating Orlando Magic 96-95. The game was a nail biter until the last buzzer, milliseconds before which a three pointer by LeBron James gave the Cavaliers their much needed victory. James sunk in an additional 32 points during the game. Now the Magics and the Cavaliers are tied 1-1 in the series.
The Denver Nuggets took a 106-103 win over the Los Angeles Lakers in game two of the Western Conference finals, leveling their record 1-1. Carmelo Anthony scored 34 points and 9 rebounds. The lead in the fourth quarter exchanged 3 times between the two teams until two free throws from Chauncy Billups gave the Nuggets a 105-101 lead with 13.7 seconds remaining. Kobe Bryant contributed 32 points for the Lakers while Trevor Ariza put in 20.
