Andy Murray defeated Juan Martin Del Porto 7-6(2),7-6(1),4-6,7-5 in the quarter-finals of the U.S. Open to earn a spot against Nadal in the semi-finals.

Rafael Nadal (1), Mardy Fish, Andy Murray(6), Juan Martin Del Porto(17), Andy Roddick(8), Novak Djokovic(3), Roger Federer(2), and Gilles Muller are headed to the quarter-finals. Olympic silver medalist Fernando Gonzalez(11) of Chile fell to American Andy Roddick(8) in three sets 6-2,6-4,6-1.

Jelena Jankovic (2), Elena Dementieva (5), Patty Shchnyder (15), Sybille Bammer (29), Serena Williams (4), Venus Williams (7), Dinara Safina (6), and Flavia Pennetta (16) have earned a spot each in the quarter-finals of the U.S. Open. The Williams sisters are slated for their first match up since the Wimbledon in the quarters.

Mardy Fish of U.S.A took out fellow countryman James Blake in three straight sets, 6-3, 6-3,7-6(4) at the U.S. Open. Gael Monfils (32) of France defeated No.7 David Nalbandian of Argentina 6-3,6-4,6-2. World No. 4 David Ferrer also headed home after a defeat to Kei Nishikori of Japan.
