U.S. Open: Federer Wins

Roger Federer has done it again, claiming his fifth cosecutive U.S. Open trophy and 13th career grand slam. Federer defeated Andy Murray of Britain 6-2,7-5,6-2 and will walk away from New York with $1.5 million in prize money and a new Lexus car. Murray also rakes in 1 million in total prize money from the tournament.

U.S. Open: Serena Wins

There is a new number one in women’s tennis, Serena Williams. Serena took this title along with her new U.S. Open trophy defeating Jelena Jankovic 6-4,7-5. This is Serena’s third U.S. open and ninth grand slam title.

U.S. Open: Nadal vs Murray

Andy Murray moves on to meet Roger Federer in the final, after a huge upset win over world no.1 Rafael Nadal, 6-2,7-6,4-6,6-4. It is the first time Murray has made it to the finals of a grand slam. Murray has a 2-1 winning record against Federer and if he were to pull of a win, he would become the first British man to win a grand slam in the 40-year Open era. Federer on the other hand, can have a good ending to a season that was all in all disappointing.

U.S. Open: Federer v Djokovic

Second seed Roger Federer is in the run for his fifth U.S. Open title, having defeated No.3 Novak Djokovic in four sets, 6-3,5-7,7-5,6-2. Federer will face either Nadal or Murray in the finals.

S. Williams vs Safina

Serena Williams took out Dinara Safina in two sets, 6-3, 6-2 to advance to the finals of the U.S. Open where she will meet Jelena Jankovic.

Jankovic vs Dementieva

Jelena Jankovic of Serbia defeated Elena of Dementieva of Russia in two straight sets 6-4, 6-4 at the U.S. Open semi-finals. She will face Serena Williams at the finals.

Federer vs Muller

In the quarter final action at the U.S. Open Roger Federer defeated Gilles Muller in three sets, 7-6(5),6-4,7-6(5) and will advance to the semi-finals, where he is slated to meet Djokovic.

Djokovic vs Roddick

Novak Djokovic defeated Andy Roddick in four sets 6-2,6-3,3-6,7-6(5) to advance to the semi-finals of the U.S. Open where he will meet Roger Federer.

Nadal vs Fish

Mardy Fish was defeated by reigning world No.1 Rafael Nadal, 3-6,6-1,6-4,6-2 at the U.S. Open quarter-finals; Nadal will go on to face Andy Murray at the semi-finals.
