Wimbledon Day Seven

The British newspapers may carry a seven page spread on Andy Murray this morning due to his amazing turnaround victory against Richard Gasquet in five sets yesterday. Unless Murray is the final champion I doubt if such an honour will be bestowed on anyone else. Both Nadal and Federer broke their opponents in three sets and Marat Safin shattered resistance from his opponent, Wawrinka in four sets. Schuettler, Ancic, Clement and Lopez are also into the quarter-finals. Rafael Nadal will play Andy Murray in a much anticipated match tomorrow, about 15,000 supporters turned up to support Murray in the last match, it remains to be seen what effect this will have on Nadal’s performance. Roger Federer will face Mario Ancic who actually defeated Federer in 2002 at Wimbledon, so this match up will be interesting as well, as Federer will be looking to give some payback. In the women’s section, the Williams sisters are through after both handing their opponents the defeat in two sets apiece. Radwanska, Vaidisova, Zheng, Petrova, Dementieva, Tanasugarn have also qualified for the women’s quarter-finals.
