Carlos Sastre: Winner of Tour de France

Gert Steegmans of Belgium claimed the last stage of the tour de France, but the final honours went to Carlos Sastre of Spain who managed to maintain the yellow jersey in the final five stages. Oscar Freire, also of Spain, won the green jersey, the polka dot jersey went to Bernhard Kohl and Andy Schleck won the white jersey. The overall standings team standings went to the Team CSC Saxo Bank.

 

Tour de France: Stage 20

Stefan Schumacher gained his second victory of the Tour de France by winning stage 20 and the yellow jersey remains in the hands of Carlos Sastre.

Tour de France: Stage 19

Sylvain Chavanel of France took stage 19 and Carlos Sastre remained in yellow.

Tour de France: Stage 18

The German, Marcus Burghardt, has claimed stage 18 of the Tour de France and Carlos Sastre maintained the yellow jersey.

Djokovic And Roddick Through

Defending champion of the Roger’s Cup, Novak Djokovic, defeated Canadian Frank Dancevic 6-4, 6-4 last night in the second round in Toronto. Andy Roddick is also through after defeating Nicolas Mahut of France in three sets, 6-1, 6-7(6), 6-3. The top eight seeds had been waived through the first round, and will commence with the second round. Today, July 23, will feature the top two seeds, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in the day and night sessions respectively with the second round.

Tour de France: Stage 17


Carlos Sastre of Spain won stage 17 and took over the yellow jersey from Frank Schleck.

Tour de France: Stage 16


Cyril Dessel of France won stage 16, and Frank Schleck of Luxembourg retained the yellow jersey.

Tour de France: Stage 15


Simon Gerrans win stage 15 of the Tour de France and the yellow jersey is handed over for the from Cadel Evans to Frank Schleck. Mark Cavendish drops out of the the tour to focus on his training for the upcoming Olympics, claiming that he would have stayed on if the green jersey was still in contention.

Oscar Freire won stage 14 and holds the green jersey; Cadel Evans is in the yellow.

The young Brit, Mark Cavendish, wins for a fourth time this year at the Tour de France and Cadel Evans keeps his yellow jersey.
